Maths Trail & English Scavenger Hunt

During English and Maths today, Senior Infants had great fun out in the sunshine. For Maths they completed a Maths Trail and for English they drew pictures of what they could see around them, beginning with certain letters. Senior Infants did really well working in pairs to complete these activities! 🙂

We’ve been busy in April in the Junior Room

We were very busy in the Junior Room before Easter!  We had an Easter hunt and went to the Library on the day of our holidays.  We have been busy with our Art and we are delighted that Olivia and Denis are coming every Thursday to do Funky Fingers with us.  We love it!!

South School Supermarket :-)

In Maths class this week, Senior Infants are learning all about Money. We decided to make our own “South School Supermarket”. Everyone is busy writing shopping lists and counting their money. We are having great fun acting out the roles of shopkeepers and customers in our little shop. Ms. Wakefield is so impressed with how well we can play our roles within our supermarket. Well done, Senior Infants! 🙂

Maths Fun

We have lots of fun in our Maths lessons in Junior Infants.  We use lots of equipment.  We play card games.  We get to practise our numbers with play doh and on our own whiteboards. Recently we went on a number hunt maths trail around our school looking for numbers.  We were number detectives. We really enjoy our Maths lessons.

Busy artists in the Junior Room

We have been busy since Christmas making lots of art.  We made warm, snuggly winter outfits for our little people shapes with lots of different pieces of fabric.  We made lovely Valentine art – we called it Blowing Kisses.  We also made cards for the ones we love for Valentines’ Day.  They’ll be delivered on the special day!!!

10 @ 10

Our whole school took part in the 10 @ 10 this morning.  It was great fun.  We have been practicing for two weeks in the Junior Room and we were fantastic at our moves.  We enjoy getting fit and healthy.

Healthy Eating

We have been learning all about staying healthy in the Infant Room.  We know that sleep, drink and exercise are all important and the most important thing of all is eating healthily.

Mrs Bergin brought in a selection of green vegetables and we all had a taste.  We liked lots of them.  There wasn’t much left over for Bebhinn’s guinea pigs!!

Kermit went to Dubai

Kermit went on a trip to Dubai recently. Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates. It took around 7 hours on the plane to get there. It is very hot in Dubai all year round and it hardly ever rains. Kermit visited The Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest building in the world. He even went all the way to the top! Kermit went to the desert and had his first ever camel ride, which was very exciting. Kermit went on a tram out to see the Atlantis Hotel on Palm Island and visited many fancy buildings.

The Senior Infants Pupils are excited about bringing Kermit home again with his new diary. Kermit loves visiting the pupils’ homes and getting up to all sorts of fun activities. 🙂

Have a look at some of Kermit’s holiday photos…
